Yes! It’s been a few minutes since my last real entry. There’s been a lot going on in my life and it’s been easy to set blog entries aside.
Some of the items, in no particular order or priority:
- I’m now the pet of a new puppy! Daisy Mae is a 16ish week old Bernedoodle that is keeping me on my toes. If I can survive her I can survive anything.
- I relocated! This past December 15th, I uprooted after 45 years in Topeka to Wichita. Now I’m much closer to my kids and grands. This new house thing is a real pain to pull off by myself.
- Speaking of myself, my main goal has been to restart a new life. I’ll never forget Sharla, but I’m not one to live in the past.
- There have been other things, but I’ll not go there.
This isn’t to say I’ve not had a few adventures. In fact, maybe I’ve had a few too many. 😜
Last July, I accompanied Kaela and family on a wild trip through much of Europe. Then in September I went on a SCUBA excursion to Fiji. October brought a trip to D.C. with my brother Rex and much of his family Finally, this past February I accompanied some very good friends on a trip to India.
So what of my dream-goal of riding across the USA? So I got another bump in the road (figurative, not literal this time) when the group I had signed up with contacted me in December saying they didn’t have enough riders sign up and they were cancelling the trip. — Dang!!
What to do? I hopped on the internet searching for alternatives. Unfortunately, of the rides I could find, they were either full or the signup had closed.
Except for Trek Adventures. They had a ride for this coming fall. I signed up and they quickly called and said they were also full but would put me on the waiting list. Of course, the list was so long they didn’t give me much of a chance and offered to put me on the list for fall off 2026. — WTH, I signed up of course.
While on their web site I did some additional checking and found another ride in Tuscany, Italy this June. So, here I go again. Stay tuned.
